Martin is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Neuroscience.

About

Martin is passionate about teaching and community outreach. He is a regular guest lecturer at Columbia University Neuroscience Outreach (CUNO) and taught a ten-class semester long course introducing topics in neuroscience to middle school students at Citizen Schools New York. In the lab, Martin enjoys mentoring undergraduate and high school students.

Prior to Columbia, Martin received a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the National University of Mexico (UNAM). He received his PhD in Biomedical Science from Instituto de Fisiologéia Celular at UNAM under the mentorship of Dr. Félix Recillas-Targa. Martin was also a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Edith Heard at Institut Curie in Paris, France.

In his free time, Martin enjoys dancing, playing football (soccer, that is), watching movies, hiking, and cooking.
