Alice Mumbey-Wafula

Research Staff

Alice is a Senior Staff Associate II at the Zuckerman Institute.  She works with the Lomvardas and Fitzpatrick labs.

About

Alice plays a vital role in both the Lomvardas and Fitzpatrick labs. Originally a lab technician with alum Kevin Monahan, she now maintains stock lines within the mouse colony and handles lab orders and inventory.

Prior to Columbia, Alice received her BS in Medical Technology and majored in Clinical Chemistry at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. She then received her MA in Biochemistry from the City University of New York. Before joining our lab, Alice worked as a research associate in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at City College of New York—where she sought to understand the mechanism of autoimmune diseases, specifically Lupus Erythematosus using mouse models. Alice also taught as an Adjunct Professor at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Sciences.

In her free time, Alice enjoys cooking and exercising.
